When custom software pays off

Custom software makes sense when your way of working differs from standard products, when you pay many licences for features you don't use, or when you must connect systems that don't talk to each other. I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it or an existing solution fits.

Start from the problem, not the technology

The first step is always understanding the process: who does what, where time is lost, which data is needed. Only then do I choose how to build it, with a prototype you can try before investing in full development.

Full-stack: interface, backend and infrastructure

I follow the whole cycle: the interface people use, the logic and data behind the scenes, and the infrastructure that keeps the system online. TypeScript-typed code, automated tests on critical parts, proper authentication, backups and monitoring: quality and security are part of the project, not an extra.

Case studies

At Altura Vela I connected bookings, fleet, members, contracts and payments. For Fix and Sail I developed a platform that organises boats, accessories, documents and deadlines. The case studies show the initial problem and my contribution to the development.

Case histories

Altura Vela→

Altura Vela is a sailing school in Rome. A redesign grew into a custom management system in Nuxt 4 on REST APIs: fleet calendar, areas for members and skippers, contracts, payments and AI. The school runs three times the boats it managed by hand.

Fix and Sail→

Fix and Sail is a platform where you recreate your boat digitally, with model and accessories, to keep track of maintenance and deadlines. It was born from a private client's idea and is now in the launch phase. I develop the application in Nuxt.js on Strapi REST APIs, from Figma to a catalogue with AI recognition of parts from a photo.
